When it comes to great recreation, camping is a perfect example! Camping adventures offer the opportunity to commune with nature and find a sense of peace. It can be very rewarding to experience and explore the outdoors. This article should give you some great advice for having a successful trip.

Choose an appropriate sleeping bag for the conditions in which you will be camping. If you are camping in a colder climate, purchase a heavyweight sleeping bag; people who camp in warm weather should use a lightweight sleeping bag. You also want to get a sleeping bag that is comfortable to sleep in as well, so test them out.

An orange peel can help repel mosquitoes. So, if you forgot to pack your mosquito repellant, do not despair. Just rub the inside of the peel over any exposed body parts. This can keep mosquitoes at bay for a number of hours.

Be sure that you have a big enough tent for everyone that’s going to need it for shelter at night. You want to make sure that you have enough room in the tent for sleeping quarters and so that each person in the room has enough room.

When you get to the campsite, set your tent up on the flattest, softest ground you can find. Picking a sloped or rocky spot causes you to feel uncomfortable anytime you sit in your tent. Just lay a tarp at the bottom of the tent to stop water from going into your tent or damaging your tent.

Try to go swimming when you are camping. A hot shower can be sorely missed. By taking a dip in a pool, lake or river, you will have fun and feel clean and refreshed at the same time!

If you have never been camping in the forest before and are thinking about doing so, this is a fast way to find out whether or not camping is for you. Pitch a tent in your garden or backyard and spend one or two nights in it. Stay away from your house at all costs. If you like this, you might enjoy camping.

Dryer Lint

A simple and obvious piece of advice is that you should create your shelter when it is still light. When it’s dark, it’s hard to pitch your tent. You will need a flashlight or you’ll have to build a fire. It’s much easier to pitch your tent while it’s light out.

Bring lots of dryer lint on your camping adventure. You may think this is odd, but lint makes a terrific campfire-building aid. Twick and wood chips just can’t compare to the bright flames of a handful of dryer lint. A spark and the lint is all that is needed for a fire.

A first aid session, especially if you have children, is essential. You will be prepared for any accidents that may occur and can survive until you reach professional medical care. Be sure to research beforehand. Know if there are any poisonous snakes in the area, what type of wild animals call those woods their home, etc.

Even the most natural experience can allow for one nice luxury from home. Bring an interesting book, some luxurious candy or even a nice fluffy pillow. Don’t bring any items that are heavy, though. These things can help to keep you happy and make your trip more enjoyable.

While it’s not required, you should leave a bit of firewood for the future campers at your site. Folks may get to their campsite later than expected, and once their tents are set up, they may not have sufficient time to find wood. One day someone might do the same for you.

Your camp should be set up before nightfall. This means a safe parking place for RV campers. Find a piece of ground that’s flat and dry if you are putting up a tent. If you do that before it gets dark, you can get a good look at your immediate surroundings. You will have an easier time seeing the task a hand, preventing frustration from setting in.

Keep safety at the front of your mind. That means to steer clear of large wildlife, and even some of the smaller creatures. Squirrels, raccoons and the like can be quite dangerous, even though they are small. Of course, you shouldn’t feed any bears in the wild.

Use this advice so that you don’t miss anything important when it comes to camping. Even if you have been camping many times, it doesn’t hurt to expand your knowledge. You have made a wise choice by reading up on some sound camping advice!
