Eat well enough on days that you want to build muscle. You need to eat your calories about 60 minutes before you start your routine. Make sure that you don’t eat in excess but that you moderately gauge how much you’re eating and plan your meals on the days you workout, accordingly.

Continually change your exercise routine. After you have been working out for a bit of time, you might find that you are bored with your routine. This can cause you to lose motivation and even stop working out all together. Vary your workouts to integrate different movements and always utilize different muscles whenever you hit the gym. When you change your workouts, you will always be engaged, and you will be more likely to stick with it for the long run.

Don’t work out for longer than an hour. If your body is engaged for more than sixty minutes, then it will start to release cortisol. Cortisol decreases your testosterone levels, which just wastes your efforts towards increasing your muscle mass. Restricting workouts to 60 minutes or less helps you get more out of each workout.

To ensure that your muscles gain the full benefits of your workout, you must stretch your muscles. An individual who is less than 40 years old should hold their stretch for 30 seconds or more. However, if you are over 40, hold the stretch for a little longer, 60 seconds at least. This helps to prevent injuries after you have exercised to build muscle.

Use caution when taking creating supplements for long periods of time. These supplements should not be used if you have kidney problems. Creatine can also lead to heart arrhythmia, cramps or muscle compartment syndrome. People who are still growing are at the greatest risk of potential harm. Stick closely to the instructions when taking supplements.

You can cheat when lifting weights as long as you don’t do so excessively. It is okay to cheat by not fully engaging your body in the name of pumping out some bonus reps. But do not make that an excuse to cheat on all of your reps! Maintain a rep speed that is controlled. Maintain your form throughout as well.

Don’t try to build muscle while doing intensive cardio workouts. Cardiovascular exercises are necessary for fitness but may interfere with your attempts to bulk up by strength training. If adding muscle is your primary goal, focus on strength training and reduce the amount of cardio your perform.

Try eating protein rich foods right before and after you exercise. As a good rule of thumb, eat 15 grams of protein about 30 minutes prior to exercising, then another 15 grams when you are finished. To give an example, one to two cups of milk has 15 grams of protein.

Weight training can be very life-altering. Weight training can help increase your energy, maintain a healthy weight and complete tasks you previously thought were impossible. Your whole life can change when you decide to weight train, so make the change in your life that is going to help you excel in every other aspect of your life.

Making sure that you are getting a lot of protein will help you build a lot of muscle. A simple way to make sure you consume the proper amount of protein is to drink protein shakes and consume other protein supplements. They are especially beneficial after a workout and also right before going to bed. You must consume about one shake a day. On the contrary, if mass as well as muscle is your goal, you can drink up to three of these per day.
