Camping is such a delight! Time in nature makes great memories for a family, couples or just yourself. Camping is a terrific way to commune with nature, though it is important to understand a fair bit about it first. To make sure that you have a wonderful time, follow the advice and suggestions below.

You may feel that when you get to your campsite you will have enough wood to make a fire. This is not always the case because green and wet wood will not burn easily. It’s smart to bring your own wood and make sure it stays in a dry area.

Be well-versed in emergency first aid if you plan on camping out, especially if there will be kids with you. If something unexpected comes up, you will be ready to handle it. Be sure to research the area you are visiting. Find out if the area has poisonous snakes, what type of wildlife lives in the woods, etc.

Dryer Lint

Dryer lint makes surprisingly good kindling for starting campfires. A month before your camping trip, begin collecting the lint from your dryer’s lint filter. Hang a plastic bag beside your dryer and toss the lint into it. Just grab your bag of dryer lint and go on camping day.

Check the terms of your health insurance before leaving. You may need an additional policy when you are traveling on your camping trip. If you are camping outside of your own country, it can be even more critical. This preparation tactic can help you save a lot of money in the event of an accident.

It is vital that you take a first-aid kit with you anytime that you go camping. There are certain things you’ll need to include at certain locations (i.e. a snake bite kit.) However, there some basics you should always have with you. Antivenom is another important component to bring with you, depending on the area where you visit.

Even if you are roughing it, your camping experience can be brightened by bringing along a small token piece of luxury. Your favorite candy bar or some prepackaged creamers for your morning coffee are light and simple to bring along. Small luxuries can make things more enjoyable!

Dryer lint is a great item to bring if you are trying to start a campfire. Before you go camping, start saving lint from the dryer’s filter. Simply hang a plastic bag near the dryer and stash the lint in the bag as it collects. This allows you to just get your kindling and leave when you’re ready.

Bring oranges. Not only are they nutritious, but the peels can be used for mosquito repellant. Don’t throw away the peels when you are finished with them and rub them on yourself. Apply to any skin that’s exposed to keep insects away with no chemicals. It’s a lot cheaper than spending your money on bug spray!

Try to get your camp fully set up by nightfall. If you are traveling in an RV, park it in a well secured area. When you find a camping area, make sure that your tent is pitched on a flat area that isn’t near any unsafe ledges. Doing this when you still have daylight lets you get familiar with the area. It will also save some time and frustration since you will be able to see better.

Try to ensure your camp is set up before night falls. Quickly locate a good parking place if you’ve brought along an RV. When pitching a tent, locate dry and flat ground. If you do that before it gets dark, you can get a good look at your immediate surroundings. It also makes it much easier to actually see what you are doing, thus saving a great deal of frustration.

Even though camping is a fun and popular getaway, things can turn sour without the right planning. With any luck, the piece above has given you the tools necessary to create a wonderful camping adventure.
