There is nothing more exciting than a well planned camping trip. You can be close to nature and re-discover yourself. You can hike or build a campfire. The following tips will help you make sure that you enjoy your next camping trip.

Survival Kit

Are you a beginning camper and have just purchased your first tent? Before you head off on that initial camping trip, practice pitching your tent. When you do this, you’ll know exactly what it takes to get your tent set up in a timely manner. This will also enable you to do this task quickly if you arrive at the campsite, right before darkness sets in.

Always pack and carry a survival kit. A survival kit should consist of matches, first aid necessities a flare gun and a knife. This kit can keep you alive! Never let it leave your side.

Pack plenty of jerky and trail mix when planning for a camping trip. At the end of the day, you might feel too tired to cook so having these nutrient-filled snacks on hand can be very useful. They are also convenient because they keep well and don’t need to be refrigerated.

Take some things to do on your camping trip. Create a good scavenger hunt list, pack some fishing poles and carry along some board or card games to entertain you while sitting in the middle of the woods. If your kids are along on your camping trip, include as many entertainment items as possible.

Clean up your campsite before going home. Be sure to bring plenty of garbage bags to put your trash in when you cleanup. Make sure you pick up any food that you have as leftovers too. The only thing that should be left behind are your footprints.

Do you know what means you are going to use to cook your food? Decide how you will cook early on, so that you can prepare accordingly. Cooking over a fire sounds romantic but may not be practical, especially if you don’t have the right equipment.

Children love camping, but be sure that you provide them with activities. If you are just sitting in the woods, they will end up bored. They may not know what it’s like to fish or do things in nature. Teach them how to perform these acts before you set out to camp.

Duct Tape

Make sure that duct tape is part of your supply arsenal while camping. Although modern tents are more durable than older ones, you still may tear your tent. Duct tape will allow you to make some minor repairs and sleep comfortably if this happens to you.

If you plan on camping more than a couple days, bring along some entertainment. Books, board games, a guitar or some music are all great options to bring along.

Always bring along your first aid kit. If an accident happens, you will have what you need. A first aid kit should include bandages, wound dressing, splints, aspirin and a snake bite kit. You must be prepared for any type of accident or illness that could occur while camping.

Camping can create lifelong friendships with other campers. Don’t shy away from neighboring tents and RV’s; interact. Campgrounds create a very social atmosphere. If you fail to meet new people while camping, you are truly missing something special.

It is always a smart idea to look into what the weather is going to be like, before going camping. There are numerous websites that can provide you with this information. If you have the correct weather information, you will be better prepared with proper equipment and clothing.

It should be a lot easier for you to figure out what it takes to go camping now. Make sure to remember this information when you plan to go camping next time. If you use them, you’ll have a camping trip that will always be in your memory.
