You may feel that when you get to your campsite you will have enough wood to make a fire. This is not always the case because green and wet wood will not burn easily. Bring along some dry wood and store it where it remain dry.

To start your fires at camp, use dryer lint as kindling. Collect some lint from your clothes dryer to bring with you. Keep a simple plastic or ziplock bag near your dryer to make collecting easier. The morning of your departure, all you need to do is grab the bag and depart, kindling sorted!

Even camping purists may find that having a small luxury item is a good thing. Take something like creamer for your coffee or a chocolate candy bar. Just one small thing can feel luxurious if you start to miss the comforts of home.

Be prepared to get dirty. Setting the proper regulations in advance can help to combat this. Let loose and allow everyone to get messy while you enjoy the time spent in the woods. You can get cleaned up when you return home.

If you are camping in uncharted territory, make sure that you understand potential dangers lurking there. This involves finding out which spiders are dangerous, whether flash floods are commonplace and whether there are any sheer drops nearby. Many camping areas pose some dangers.

Talk to your kids about common dangers before taking them on a camping trip. It is simple to show them which plants they should stay away from prior to your trip.
