Always stretch thoroughly after working out to give your muscles the best chance to repair and grow properly. For those who are under 40 years old, they need to hold stretches for at least 30 seconds. People over that age need to hang on longer; holding each stretch for a full minute is recommended. This will lessen the chances of your body getting injured while doing muscle development exercises.

Limit your workouts to no more than 60 minutes. Beyond 60 minutes, your body starts releasing the stress hormone, cortisol. Cortisol blocks testosterone, which causes less efficiency during workouts. Keeping your workouts under an hour will allow you to gain the most from your fitness routine.
