Many people around the globe have fallen in love with the relaxing pastime of camping with family and friends. But, without the proper planning, your trip might not be so enjoyable. The following advice will help you make sure your camping adventure is enjoyable.

Search out shelter before the sun sets when you are camping. Finding the right spot for your tent, gathering firewood and making dinner are all a lot tougher after darkness settles in. That can be especially true for someone who live in the suburbs and is not used to total darkness. Avoid this hazard completely, by finding adequate shelter long before the sun goes down.

It’s imperative that you pitch your tent before the sun goes down. Once darkness falls, it is very difficult to set up camp. This is particularly important if you are not used to doing things in the dark. To ensure you get your campsite operational arrive several hours before sunset.

Sleeping Bag

Buy a sleeping bag which will suit the weather you will be in. If you bring sub-zero sleeping bags with you in the dead of summer, you will probably sweat all night. And if you taking a sleeping bag that is light-weight, you are going to freeze. You may even subject yourself to hypothermia.

If you’ve brought the kids along, feed them a “jungle” breakfast. Use serving sized boxes of cereal, pieces of fruit and juice boxes and tie them to trees near your campsite. Then, when the kids wake up, have them go and “hunt” for their breakfast. It adds some fun to camping.

Be sure to know the recent conditions of where you will be staying. For example, you will want to know if the area will be dry enough to find suitable firewood. Make sure you bring some of your own dry kindling and make sure it stays in a dry area.

Make sure your survival kit is available on a constant basis. You should have a bandanna (to use as a sling or tourniquet), wound coverings, something to use for sprains, matches, a knife, tablets to purify water and a compass in your kit. This kit can save your life if you get into a dangerous situation. Be sure to bring it with you whenever you leave your campsite.

Even when you’re trying to get away from the luxuries of life, it can help to bring something nice on your camping trip. It could be something as simple as coffee or nice hand cream. Just one small thing can feel luxurious if you start to miss the comforts of home.

Attend a class in first aid; this is a really good idea if you are camping with children. If you have an accident, you are going to know how to fix the situation before you can get professional medical help. Additional research can also provide valuable information. You should be aware of things like whether there are snakes around and what kind of animals live there.

If you are not prepared for your camping trip, your fun excursion can turn dangerous fast. You must make sure you are completely prepared before you go camping. Research the area to learn about the wildlife and the geography and climate.

Oranges can be used for insect repellent. Once you finish your orange, save the peel. Rub it easily on all your exposed skin for a chemical-free bug repellent.

Camping is a fun hobby enjoyed by individuals across the globe. However, if you fail to make proper preparations, your camping trip could very easily turn into a complete disaster. By using the camping tips and advice you’ve learned here, you can be sure your next trip will be exciting and memorable for all the right reasons. Most important of all, make sure you have a great time.
