If you have a new tent, practice setting it up at home before your trip. This allows you to check and see that all the pieces are there and that you know how to assemble your shelter correctly. You will find your frustration level diminishes greatly as well.

Survival Kit

Bring a survival kit with you and be sure to always have it on you. Your survival kit should contain a survival knife, water-purifying tablets, waterproof matches, first aid kit, and a flare gun. For any life threatening situation, these items may be the only thing standing between you and disaster. If you don’t take it with you on excursions it will serve you no good.

Try combining a swimming experience with your camping experience. Many people miss a nice warm shower while camping. The coolness of the water will help you feel cleaner and more refreshed, so you won’t miss your shower as much as you thought you might!

Before going camping, take a course in first aid, especially if you plan to bring children with you. Accidents happen, and taking the right precautions will ensure you know how to better a poor situation. Also remember to research other dangers near your camping location. Know about any poisonous snakes and spiders in the area, and learn what animals live there.

Bring a hankerchief or a bandanna with you. Such an item can be used as a carrying bag, a potholder, a hand towel, a blotter or a paper towel. Take a few with you anytime you go camping.

Make sure that your camp site is complete before night breaks. If you have an RV, find a secure place to park. When you find a camping area, make sure that your tent is pitched on a flat area that isn’t near any unsafe ledges. Getting your camp set up before dark will give you time to get to know your campsite and surrounding area. You will be able to see a lot better, and this will make everything easier.

Duct tape is important to pack because it can be used for a good bit of things. It works quickly for inflatable leaks, tent holes, worn soles on shoes, sealing mosquito nets, securing tent poles, and so much more.

You can use dryer lint as a kindling to start a campfire with. A month before your camping trip, begin collecting the lint from your dryer’s lint filter. Simply use a plastic grocery sack to collect each new crop of lint. By doing this, you’ll be able to collect the kindling on the day you’re taking the trip.

Now that you have learned a little bit more about camping, it should ease your mind and help you prepare for anything that may happen on your trip. Camping can be a lot more enjoyable if you have good information. Luckily, you can enjoy some good times coming up.
