Make Camping More Enjoyable With These Tips

Are you ready to go camping? Whether you want to go for an overnight adventure or plan to stay a week, there is some basic information you need. The tips below are great for maximizing any camping journey.

Pick out your sleeping bag according to what season it is. If you take a sub-zero bag camping in the middle of summer, you will probably sweat all night, or even overheat. On the other hand, bringing a light-weight bag in the middle of winter could cause you to wake up freezing. You would in fact be risking your health and safety.

You might think that you can find all of the wood that you need to keep the fire going, but there is a good chance that the wood will be wet. Therefore, take some wood with you on your camping trip and store it in a location where it can remain dry.

You will get dirty. If you are mentally prepared for this experience ahead of time, you can relieve the cause for a lot of stress when it does happen. Allow yourself to be improper, messy and just “let go” while outside. After all, you can be normal at home.

Consider taking a CPR and first aid class. This is especially important if young children are traveling with you. If an accident occurs, you’ll need to know what you need to better the situation until you can receive medical attention. You could also read about different first aid techniques online. Figure out what wild animals are hanging out there and what kinds of poisonous snakes or bugs are sneaking around.

Remember that everything you bring will get dirty on your trip. While baby wipes can be used to help for some level of cleanliness, expect that people will get dirty. Be ready for it and accept it. Let loose and allow everyone to get messy while you enjoy the time spent in the woods. Things will be normal again once you are home.

Dryer Lint

Dryer lint makes surprisingly good kindling for starting campfires. Collect the lint in your dryer and store it in a bag a few weeks before you go camping to prepare for this. To make it easy to collect dryer lint, simply hang a bag next to the dryer and fill with your lint. This allows you to just get your kindling and leave when you’re ready.

When purchasing a brand new tent, put it together once at home before going on your camping trip. That will help you make sure your tent has all the pieces and you know how to properly set it up. This can eliminate the aggravation felt when setting up your tent.

Don’t leave home without all of your essential camping equipment. The last thing you need is to forget something essential like your tent or sleeping bag. Double check all your supplies to make sure they are accounted for and in working condition. Do this before you leave.

Camping Trip

Take oranges with you as a way to snack in a healthy, convenient way–and as a mosquito repellent that is organic. Use the peels to rub your body down. It is a low-cost, chemical-free way to keep bugs away.

Now you should be better equipped to take a camping trip that goes well. Many of the same preparations are required for an overnight stay as are needed for a longer trip. Start planning now, and soon you’ll be on your way to your own memorable camping trip.
