Take along a survival kit and carry it at all times. Must haves include, but aren’t limited to, a knife, matches, a flare gun, and a first aid pack. Never assume there won’t be any trouble. Anything can happen, and you need these essential items to help save your life if necessary. Keep it with you at all times when you leave your campsite for any reason.

A ‘jungle breakfast’ can be a great activity for the kids. Tie up small boxes of juice, cereal and food to a tree. Then, have the kids go on a hunt for their breakfast when they awaken. This will add some adventure and fun to their day.

If possible, incorporate swimming into your camping trip. Camping can make you miss your shower. The coolness of water while swimming is refreshing on hot days, and it helps you to clean yourself. You might not miss the shower after all!

The lint from the dryer actually is great to help start campfires. Start storing your lint in a bag a couple weeks before your trip. Place the lint you normally throw in the trash in a plastic bag to take with you. That technique lets you simply grab the kindling you’ll use right before you go on your trip.

Buy yourself some camping pillows for your trip. Regular bed pillows can become damp if the weather is wet or humid. These pillows will also retain water from the air during humid conditions, so they can mildew. Camping pillows are made with a protective, moisture-proof coating to prevent these issues.
