A lot of people who exercise end up putting more emphasis on speed than they should and less emphasis on technique than they should. You’ll always get better results if you complete repetitions slowly and correctly, rather than if you try to get your reps done too fast. Don’t rush, and focus on doing each rep with proper form.

If you’re planning to engage in extreme cardiovascular exercise, leave your weight training on hold for a while. Cardiovascular exercises are necessary for fitness but may interfere with your attempts to bulk up by strength training. If increasing muscle mass and strength is your primary goal, stick with resistance training.

When working to build muscle, make sure you are consuming plenty of protein. Muscles are made from protein, meaning you need to keep levels high so they can rebuild. You body has trouble sustaining muscle mass when you do not eat enough. Try to eat healthy, lean proteins in two of the three major meals and one or two of your snacks every day.

Your muscles need certain things in order to grow and carbohydrates are one of these things. Carbs provide fuel for your body, giving it the energy to complete your daily routine. Individuals that are doing intense exercise are usually advised to take in approximately three grams of high quality carbs per each pound of weight.

Use several reps and sets in each of your sessions. Do at least 15 repetitions of each exercise, and do not take a long break between sets. Maximizing lactic acid production in this fashion stimulates muscle growth. Doing this consistently while you train will optimize the amount of muscle built over time.

Mix your routine up from time to time. Make sure you are always challenging yourself to do new things and that you’re challenging your body as well. Engage in different exercises each time you workout to ensure you work different groups each time. By varying your workout you will keep it fresh which will help you stick with it.

Create the illusion that your body is larger than it is. You can achieve this by focusing your strength training on your shoulders, upper back and upper chest. A bulkier upper body will make your waist appear smaller by comparison, giving you more impressive proportions.

Protein Intake

You must eat carbohydrates, if you want to build muscle. Remember that carbohydrates help fuel your body so that it can perform your daily exercise regimen. If are taking an aggressive approach to building muscle mass, you should consume between 2,000 and 3,000 milligrams of carbohydrates per pound of your body weight.

You should not increase your protein intake the minute you begin working out. This can cause an increase in calories, and if not enough exercise is being done, can lead to fat gain. Increase your protein intake slowly, adding a couple hundred calories at a time every few days. Your body will be able to keep up with the increase this way, using the extra protein to grow muscle.

As you now know, meeting your goals depends upon your willingness to listen to your body’s needs. Building muscle can be done several ways; make sure you understand the best way to increase your muscle tissue. What you have learned from this article will help you make real progress toward your goals.

Eat plenty of protein when trying to add muscle to your frame. Protein is one of the primary building blocks of muscle, and eating too little can actually cause you to lose muscle, defeating the purpose of bulking up. It’s likely that you’ll have to consume around one gram of it for every single pound that you weigh every day.
