When you lift weights correctly and safely, it can be lots of fun. If you enjoy the workout, you are much more likely to stick to your program. Before you do anything else, you need to learn which exercises best fit your needs, and the following tips will help you do that.

Building muscle will require you to eat more of a variety of foods. You would want to consume the required food in order to gain an average of one pound per week. Consider the ways you might increase your calories and protein intake, then reconsider your approach if you don’t put on any weight in 14 days.

Quite often, people will mistakenly emphasize their speed instead of technique. Not only is it safer, but slowing down to assure that you use the correct form will give better outcomes than trying to do them faster. Just make certain to take your time, while making sure the exercise is being done correctly.

Don’t forget about carbohydrates when trying to build muscle. Carbohydrates are essential for the energy you need to last through your weight training workouts. If you don’t get enough carbs, your body will start to break down protein for energy. If you take in enough carbs, your body will function at a higher level during workouts.

Be sure you mix up your routine. If a workout routine becomes mundane and boring, you are less likely to stick to it. Make sure to keep your exercise routine regularly by using different pieces of equipment at the gym or taking advantage of different exercise classes. This will keep you motivated by staving off boredom.

To increase your muscle mass, you must increase your intake of nutritious foods. Muscle weighs more than fat, and you need to be able to feed your muscles. Eat what you need to in order to gain that pound per week. Research ways to bump up your calories, and if after about two weeks you have not gained any weight, you may want to raise the number of calories you are eating again.

Eat well enough on days that you want to build muscle. Consume protein and other calories the hour before exercising. That doesn’t mean you can overeat when you are scheduled for a workout, but just be sure to eat a bit more on those days and less on the days you aren’t going to be weight training.

It feels great to exercise, and increasing your lean muscle is one way to achieve your goal of having a healthy body. When you combine cardiovascular exercises with weight training, you can achieve your results in less time than by doing cardio exercises on their own. Utilize both of them, and workout frequently in order to ensure that you achieve results very quickly.

Keep the “big three” exercises in mind when developing your routine. These particular exercises are dead lifts, bench presses and squats. These exercises not only add muscles mass, but they improve your body’s overall strength and conditioning. Use a variety of each exercise each time you workout.
