When you go camping, you wand to find shelter before the sun goes down. You do not want to be stuck trying to put your tent together or finding a safe location for the tent when it’s pitch black outside. This is really important for people who live in the city. Do not get yourself into this situation, and find your shelter during daylight hours.

While you may count on Mother Nature to have plenty of wood to stoke your campfire, you may encounter only wet wood that won’t burn. Make sure you bring some of your own dry kindling and make sure it stays in a dry area.

Sleeping Bag

Make sure that your sleeping bag is right for the season and climate where you are camping. You are going to be really hot and uncomfortable camping in the summertime if your sleeping bag is rated for sub-zero temperatures. If you use a lightweight sleeping bag during the winter, you can spend your night shivering if it’s cold outside. You may even subject yourself to hypothermia.

It is important to keep in mind the fact that your person and all of your possessions will get dirty during a camping trip. Preparing for this in advance can help reduce the stress when it does happen. Enjoy hanging out in the wilderness and don’t worry too much about getting messy. You can go back to normal when you go home.

Try out your tent before going camping by testing it out at home. Doing this will allow to know ahead of time that all parts you need are there, and it will also help you learn the proper setup of your tent ahead of time. This kind of “dry run” also helps lower your frustration level when setting up the tent at the campsite

Make sure you have a survival kit with you during your entire camping trip. Must haves include, but aren’t limited to, a knife, matches, a flare gun, and a first aid pack. If you are injured or lose your way, this will give you a greater chance of survival. Your kit should not be left behind at the camp site, but should be carried with you wherever you go.

Pack a bandana. A bandana is very versatile and can be used as a blotter, potholder, mini-bag and more. It has a multitude of uses and should be an essential part of your camping gear.

Double-check any medical insurance. Out-of-state traveling will sometimes require additional coverage. This is especially important if your camping destination is in Canada or another country. Better to be prepared and safe than sorry later.

A jungle breakfest is a great way to add excitement to your trip. You can tie small food and drink boxes into the trees. The kids can go on a treasure hunt for their breakfast when they wake up. This is a wonderful way to add fun to their camping enjoyment.

Be prepared to handle any emergency that may arise and have a plan in place. Pack an emergency kit that contains basic first aid supplies as well as anything needed for the specific location in which you are camping. For example, if you will be camping in a Southern state you should certainly carry anti-venom for the local wildlife that you may encounter.

Combine your camping trip with some swimming. Many people miss a nice warm shower while camping. The coolness of water while swimming is refreshing on hot days, and it helps you to clean yourself. You might not miss the shower after all!

It should be clear to you now that you have plenty of different issues to consider when you prepare for a camping trip. As of now, you should be prepared for anything that may happen. So go out and have fun on your camping adventure!

Oranges are not only a healthy snack to take on a camping trip, but they are also versatile when used as a mosquito repellent. Once you finish your orange, save the peel. Rub it easily on all your exposed skin for a chemical-free bug repellent.
