Remember that everything you bring will get dirty on your trip. If you are mentally prepared for this experience ahead of time, you can relieve the cause for a lot of stress when it does happen. Have fun in nature and don’t be afraid to get dirty! You can return to being clean and civilized when you’re at home.

When you go camping, you wand to find shelter before the sun goes down. Once darkness falls, it is very difficult to set up camp. This is particularly true for those city-dwellers that are not used to pitch-black darkness. Avoid this by setting up your shelter ahead of time.

Don’t fear that you are overpacking for your kids on a camping trip. Camping can get very messy and dirty when you bring your children. Kids love to play in the dirt and will bring it back to your tent. As a result, they are going to be seriously messy by the end of each day. You can’t avoid the dirt, but some extra clothes will help out. Prepare ahead of time!

Preparation is key to enjoying your camping trip. Prepare in advance to avoid the downfalls of camping. Especially if you are camping in a new location, take the time to research the wildlife, plants, geography, and climate of the area.

While you may count on Mother Nature to have plenty of wood to stoke your campfire, you may encounter only wet wood that won’t burn. It is good planning to take your own wood with you and store it where it is dry.

Dryer lint makes wonderful kindling to start your campfires with. Several weeks prior to your trip, start gathering up everything that collects in your lint trap. Collecting lint in a bag will allow you to have a fire building tool for your trip. By doing this, you’ll be able to collect the kindling on the day you’re taking the trip.

Bring oranges with you since they are great for snacking and repelling insects. After you’ve eaten the flesh of the fruit, save all the peels. When you need bug repellant, rub the peels on your skin to repel mosquitos naturally and on the cheap!

When going camping you need to ensure that the tent you build can easily hold you and anybody else that comes along. This will allow you to sleep more comfortably and get up easier during the night when you need to use the bathroom.

When you decide to camp in an unfamiliar location, you should read up on any dangers that you could encounter. This refers to things like dangerous fauna, geography and climate. Every camping area has different dangers that you should be aware of.

When first getting involved with camping, start out close to home. You could have problems with your gear, or you may find you don’t like camping. It could be that you didn’t pack enough food or your clothing is not warm enough. Lots of calamities can befall new campers, so sticking close to home at first is wise.

Before camping, check out your medical insurance to affirm that it is intact. You might need a new policy if you go to another state. This becomes even more important if your camping trip takes you to another country. Be sure you’re prepared to be on the safe side!

Camping is more fun if you have good advice. Hopefully, you get a lot of that here. Get as much fun out of camping as you can, and tell your friends and family everything that you learned about camping.
