Camping can be an exciting type of vacation or getaway. Get the most enjoyment when you go camping next by using the information provided in this article. They will offer great advice you can put to good use on your outdoor adventure!

When you get to the campsite, set your tent up on the flattest, softest ground you can find. You will be uncomfortable if you pick a spot that is rocky an uneven. Make sure to put a tarp down so that water cannot penetrate your tent.

Before you embark on any camping trip you should be sure you have emergency supplies on hand, like a first aid kit and more. Pack an emergency kit that contains basic first aid supplies as well as anything needed for the specific location in which you are camping. For example, if you are camping in an area that may have poison ivy, make sure you pack hydro-cortisone.

Dryer Lint

Dryer lint makes surprisingly good kindling for starting campfires. Collect your dryer lint about a month before you go camping. Simply use a plastic grocery sack to collect each new crop of lint. By doing this, you’ll have all the kindling you need.

Listening to music or reading a book are both great ways to enjoy being in nature, but don’t forget to enjoy the scenery itself. Look at the starry sky, or take a walk and view nature. All your stress will disappear.

Make sure that your sleeping bag is right for the season and climate where you are camping. By bringing a winter sleeping bag in the summer you may end up sweating instead of sleeping. On the flip side, bring a sleeping bag meant for summer camping will make you very cold during your winter camping trip. You may even get hypothermia.

Be sure to avoid draining your flashlight’s batteries on your camping trip. It is very common for flashlights to be turned on inadvertently when going through camping supplies or while being stored. An easy way to prevent this is to switch your batteries around when the flashlight isn’t being used. This way, if the button is turned on, the flashlight will not light and your batteries remain full.

Make sure to take a change of clothes and some extra food on a camping trip. It is best to have extra food and clothing should an emergency arise. You need to be prepared in case you have to stay longer or bad weather messes up some of your food.

Prior to going camping, make sure that you are able to recognize any poisonous plant life that is indigenous to the area in which you’ll be staying. Some might not be recognizable to the average person. You can learn about poisonous plants by reading a book or Googling “poisonous plants.” This information will allow you to avoid these hazardous plants.

You can find camping to be much more enjoyable and easier if you are equipped with the best advice. Hopefully, you have found that right here. Enjoy your much needed time off more, by following the advice of this article on your next camping outing and thoroughly enjoying all the amazement that nature has to offer.

Create a list of the items you must bring before you go camping. This is especially important if you must travel a while to get to the campgrounds. Get prepared well ahead of schedule; at least one day, maybe two, is required to gather all the “forgotten” items you would regret not having in the wild.
